CEO OF NESG, LAOYE JAIYEOLA MOURNS FTAN PRESIDENT
Rabo was a peacebuilder: Laoye Jaiyeola
On behalf of the Board and Management of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), I express our heartfelt sympathy to the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) on the demise of Alhaji Saleh Rabo.
Alhaji Saleh Rabo set an enviable standard in his time as the National President of FTAN as he contributed immensely to the development of the Tourism and Hospitality sector. He played a significant role in stabilizing the Sector and promoted a bottom-up approach to catalyzing regional and States tourism development interventions. A forthright and clearheaded thinker, Alhaji Rabo was convinced that only a subnational process would yield positive results for the Nigerian Tourism sector, he thus tirelessly advocated for an “Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria” template for the Tourism Industry. He also insisted that an Industry Systems approach to fixing problems was the key to the future of the Industry. The late President was a peacebuilder, and in his time, he resolved the major disputes he met when he assumed the reins of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN).
He is a distinguished member of the Steering Committee of the NESG Tourism, Hospitality, Entertainment, Creatives and Sports Industry Policy Commission (THECS PC), which leads the policy advocacy for the recategorization of sports as a business and a private sector-led entertainment and tourism industry.
Alhaji Rabo was a selfless gentleman and a connoisseur of excellence in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. His death comes at a time when our nation and the world require new narratives and creative solutions to address the glut in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry due to the effect of the pandemic, his stellar qualities and brilliance would be sorely missed.
May God almighty grant the FTAN, his family and those who admired Alhaji Rabo the fortitude to bear the loss.
