FTAN Inaugurates FCT Zonal Excos, Establishes the Nigerian Tourism Awards.
President of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria FTAN Mr. Nkereuwem Onung has formally inaugurated a 6 - man team to steer the affairs of the Federation in the FCT zone for the next two years.
The President who described the FCT Zonal Council as very strategic to FTAN said he believed that the Zonal Council will help to strengthen the existing relationship between FTAN and the Government especially the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
He appealed to the new Executives to be humble in relating with the other members of FTAN especially the President of the Associations, stakeholders and National secretariat for there is no reason for any conflict.
He urged the FCT Excos to take urgent steps to meet with the FCTA and ensure that FTAN pet project NTIFE is on course.
The President disclosed that the Federation will soon meet with the Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Muhammed to discuss on Tourism development in Nigeria as well as the issue of palliative to the members of the travel and hospitality industry.
On the hosting of the UNWTO next year, the President said there is a need for the Federal Government to meet with the private sector to discuss on various issues including what is expected of Nigeria as the host, that this is the only way the conference is going to have a positive impact on our tourism.
" Tourism is lowest hanging fruit for Nigeria economy today, oil has gone, there is nothing we don't have in terms of Tourism assets in our country".
The President also advised them to work together to strengthen the structure that FTAN has already put in place for the benefit of both the Federation and Nigeria tourism sector
He used the ceremony to remind the members of the Nigerian Tourism awards coming up later this month in Lagos.
In his word"This is what FTAN will be doing every year. But we begin with NCAC Director General Otunba Olusegun Runsewe. So every year FTAN will honour Nigerians who contribute to the growth of the Tourism Industry. we commend Otunba for what he has done and still doing for FTAN, Culture, and Tourism in Nigeria".
"All members and the relevant stakeholders are expected to be part of the celebration."

2. Mr. Owolabi Shaheed {Vice Chairman} NATOP
3. Mr. Amos Opoola {Treasurer} HATMAN
4. Nma Jennifer Nnaji {Secretary} NANTA
5. Mr. Ekong Onofiok Jnr. {Membership Secretary} HOFA
6. Glory Okon {PRO} ANJET.
The Oath of office was administered by the FTAN 1st deputy President Alhaji Aliyu Badaki.
