UYO INTERNATIONAL THEATRE AND FILM FESTIVAL


Uyo International Theatre And Film Festival (UTAFF) prides itself as the first ever joint theatre and film festival in Africa's most populous black nation - Nigeria. UTAFF aims at becoming a premier site for increasing development in indigenous performing  and media arts, culture and tourism. Significantly, the Festival is designated to celebrate the prevalent symbiosis and influences of multifaceted African theatre and film. In every edition, we host quality live theatre and cinema showcases, industry interactions and awards. Uyo metropolis in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria is the hosting city of UTAFF. We are committed to raising future African film and theatre makers that will register commendable stir in the global performance space.

The Festival is proudly endorsed by the Akwa Ibom State government and notable institutions including Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN). The President of FTAN Mr. Nkereuwem Onung upholds that film and theatre remain a veritable twin industry capable of projecting the offerings of Nigerian tourism to the world, "so FTAN is particular about adopting UTAFF as one of its sterling strategic projects". 

The Founder/Convener of the Uyo International Theatre And Film Festival and National President of the Guild of Nigerian Dance Practitioners (GONDP), Mr. Victor Thompson hinted that the 2022 and  indeed 5th edition of the Festival slated for 6th to 8th October in the metropolitan city of Uyo will be chaired by the President of FTAN, Mr. Nkereuwem Onung. He further disclosed that the event will host theatre and film practitioners, media and IT professionals, the academia, members of the corporate community, leaders of cultural institutions, tourists, students and the Press.
