TWO TOURISM INDUSTRY BILLS SIGNED BY PRESIDENT BUHARI

It is no longer news that the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation Act, cap. N.137, laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 have been repealed and
The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority bill, and Related matters, 2022 enacted.
Also, the
National Institute For Hospitality and Tourism Establishment bill, now an Act of Parliament.

While we congratulate the agencies for an attempt to improve the legal framework for tourism business in Nigeria, we will like to state that there was no public hearing that we were privy to, and the Federation was not aware of the content of the bills.
The Federation is currently studying these bills and will respond appropriately regarding:
~ Benefits to the private sector
~ Possible partnerships and collaborations with government
~ Other sustainable factors

We wish to also state that the Federation will deliberately point out and stand against components of these bills that do not support the growth of the private sector or hinders the ease of doing business in the industry.
