UNIFORM TOURISM POLICY FOR WEST AFRICA IS POSSIBLE- President Racine Sy

The president of COPITOUR/ECOPSETC, Mamadou Racine SY, in his opening remark at the Confederation meeting in Dakar, Senegal said that the ECOWAS private sector body could operate a uniform tourism policy.
The goal of such a policy would be to promote tourism as a means of boosting economic growth, creating jobs, and improving the quality of life for people in the region.
Mr. Racine SY - PRESIDENT, COPITOUR
He opined that a unified tourism policy would require cooperation among the governments of the various countries in West Africa, as well as private sector stakeholders and international organizations. Some areas that could be addressed by such a policy include visa policies, transportation infrastructure, marketing and promotion, standardization,  environmental sustainability, and cultural preservation.

While there are certainly challenges to implementing a uniform tourism policy for West Africa, such as differences in political systems, economic development levels, and cultural practices, it is not impossible. With strong leadership and coordination, the countries in the region can work together to create a more cohesive and effective approach to promoting tourism.

The meeting had in attendance Private sector Presidents from 15 countries that constitute ECOWAS.

Also in attendance was the Tourism minister of Senegal, Mr. Mame Mbaye Ning who expressed confidence in the ability of President Racine SY to turn around the Confederation.
