FTAN President, Mr. Nkereuwem Onung, urges travel agents to invest in skills and capacity building for good service delivery.
The President of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, FTAN, Mr. Nkereuwem Onung has said it is time to inaugurate the Presidential Council on Tourism, PCT, to bring all tourism stakeholders to one table.
In his goodwill message at the ongoing Annual General Meeting, AGM, of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies, NANTA, at the Balmoral Convention Center in Lagos, Mr. Onung thanked Mr. President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for creating a separate ministry for Tourism.
Furthermore, he commended Dr. Allen Onyeama of Air Peace for his patriotism to Nigeria.
In his address, Mr Nkereuwem expressed great pride and optimism for the future as they gathered to discuss the topic of unlocking Africa's economic potential through travel and tourism. He extended his deepest gratitude to all the distinguished guests, speakers, panelists, and travel experts, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to the transformative power of the travel and tourism industry in Nigeria. He urged members of the travel body to invest in skills and capacity building and enhance the quality of their services to clients.
He highlighted Africa's rich cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes, noting that despite the diverse treasures across the continent, they had only begun to scratch the surface of the true economic value within the tourism sector.
Mr. Nkereuewm stressed the unique opportunity presented by travel and tourism for intra-Africa business, investment, and trade, emphasizing the potential for deeper cultural exchanges and stronger business collaborations through promoting travel within the continent.
He urged the gathering to envision a future where Nigeria collaborates with other countries to create a seamless and interconnected travel experience, highlighting the immense benefits of increased tourism, including job creation, economic growth, and fostering unity among nations.
As the 48th Annual General Meeting approached its conclusion, Mr. Nkereuewm called for unity and support for the next president of NANTA, reminding attendees that their commitment and dedication would pave the way toward a prosperous future.
He concluded by urging them to let the AGM serve as a factor of unification and a springboard for meaningful collaborations and partnerships among attendees and their businesses, emphasizing the collective difference they could make together.
