ECOWAS PRIVATE SECTOR TOURISM HEADS CONVERGE IN ABUJA TO SET UP TOURISM CONFEDERATION (COPITOUR) - FTAN PRESIDENT CHAIRS THE MEETING
Opening the meeting, Mr. Tony Elumelu, the Ag. Director Private Sector, ECOWAS, appreciated the West Africa private sector heads for coming together to form a confederation for the ECOWAS PRIVATE SECTOR TOURISM BODY as it is obtained in other Private sectors in the Commission.
FTAN President, Mr. Nkereuwem Onung, representing the Nigeria private sector tourism practitioners, presides over this all important meeting.
While acknowledging the fact that there is an existing factions among the West Africa economic group Mr. Onung, in his speech, called for Peace and unity among members. He advised all heads to cooperate and abide by the rule of the game.
The move to create a confederation started in 2020 when Burkina Faso hosted the meeting. The move was thwarted by disagreements among member States over the choice of leadership. But today, it is believed that all that will be put behind them and the new confederation forges ahead!
