FTAN BOSS CHARGES HOTELIERS ON GOOD CONDUCT, AS NIGERIA HOTELS ASSOCIATION INAUGURATE AKWA IBOM STATE BRANCH

The President of Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN) Mr Nkereuwem Onung  has charged hotel owners in Akwa Ibom state to refrain for allowing politics get in the way of their professional conduct in their service to the hospitality sector of the state.

The FTAN boss gave the charge in his remark at the inauguration of Nigerian Hotels Association - Akwa Ibom Branch on Tuesday, May 7,2024 performed by the National President of Nigeria Hotels Association, who is also the North East Vice President of FTAN, Eze Patrick Anyanwu.

Mr Onung, who is also the Honourary Special Adviser to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Culture & Tourism submitted that the event marks a significant milestone in the hospitality industry of the state, as the industry stakeholders come together to promote excellence, professionalism, and unparalleled service in the accommodation sector.

He called on the hoteliers to celebrate and emulate the disposition of the governor of Akwa Ibom state, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno as a man of peace, adding that peace as a tourism product is vital to sustainable development and will also position the state on the African tourism map.

Speaking further, the tourism adviser to governor described Akwa Ibom State as a land of fulfillment, known for its natural beauty, cultural richness, and warm hospitality, he stated that as stakeholders embark on this journey to establish the Nigeria Hotel Association branch, it is important to reaffirm commitment to upholding the highest standards of hospitality, ensuring that every guest who walks through our doors experiences the true essence of Nigerian hospitality. 

The Nigeria Hotel Association President, Eze Anyanwu in his remark said it is a step in the right direction for Akwa Ibom state Chapter of the association to be inaugurated and linked to the national body, he said that by this inauguration, members of the chapter stand to gain many things. He extolled the quality of personalities in the association and assured them that the national body will protect and defend their interest.

The new excited comprises of Dr. Daniel Udoh (MD Albert Suites) as Chairman,Vice Chairman, Mr Godwin Okorie, Secretary, Pastor Petronila Peters, Assistant Secretary, Mrs Victoria Pam,Treasurer, Otunba Sunny Ajayi, Financial Secretary, Mrs Comfort Nelson, Auditor, Prince Willie Ibiok, Director of Contact & Mobilization, Mr Chuks Aigboje,  Media & Publicity, Mr Possibility Andy Akpan, Ex Officios;Mrs Anietie Ibok, Mr Joe Francis Umoh, FTAN State Coordinator and Mr Charles Bassey. 

On his part, the chairman on the occasion, Chief Effiong Afiaukure charged the hotel owners and the newly sworn in Daniel Udoh led executive to promote the rich tourism potential of Akwa Ibom state as a tool to create employment and boost revenue for themselves and for the state. 

Notable amongst other guests who spoke were the vice chairman of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Tourism and member representing Ini state constituency, Hon. Lawrence Udoide, his Ibiono Ibom counterpart, Hon. Moses Essien, the Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Hotels & Tourism Board, Mr Ini Akpabio and representatives of the commissioner for culture & tourism,Sir Charles Udoh, the commissioner of police and Director of State Security Service.
